Sure it looks like it will be either Hillary or Obama as the Democratic nominee for President. The rest don't have a chance. On the other side of the isle, it sure looks like no one can stop either Rudy or Fred Thompson (or maybe Mitt) from earning the Republican nominee. No big surprises there...

But remember what happened to Howard Dean last time?
During his concession speech after placing third in the 2004 Iowa Democratic caucuses,
Howard Dean went crazy:
Not only are we going to New Hampshire, Tom Harkin, we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York … And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan, and then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House! Byaaah!!!
Yeah, the aftermath, as his campaign fell apart around him, is the stuff of political lore.
So I think that given the huge amount of time before the first primaries (7 months to Feb.2008) there are many, many chances for a Dean-like meltdown by one of the leading candidates. That's the risk in running an 18 month primary season. This means that we could end up with a
second tier candidate ending up as their party's nominee. I call it "The Biggest Comeback to Come" and it is a real possibility in either or both parties in the coming months.
